Once upon a time in a very unpleasant city a young maiden was struck with misfortune. In the mist of her misfortune she started crocheting during one of the darkest seasons of my life. During this time, she was in college and struggling mentally, feeling lost, overwhelmed, and unsure of where she was going or what her future was supposed to look like. The young maiden did not have much clarity, and it felt like she was trying to make ends meet each day.
One day everything began to shift when one of her friends taught the young maiden how to crochet. What started as a simple lesson quickly became something much deeper for her. Crocheting gave her a sense of peace and comfort during a time when she really needed it. It became more than just a hobby — it became a creative outlet, a form of healing, and something that helped the young maiden reconnect with herself.
The very first thing the maiden made was a crochet hat, and honestly… it was pretty bad. Even though it wasn’t perfect, finishing it gave the maiden a feeling she hadn’t felt in a long time: pride. That one imperfect hat opened the door to something bigger. From there, the maiden kept going — learning, practicing, and pouring more of myself into every stitch. Soon she was creating crochet bees, blankets, plushies, and so much more.
Crochet became a safe space for the young maiden. It helped her through difficult moments, gave her purpose when the maiden felt directionless, and reminded her that beautiful things can come from hard seasons. What started as a small act of learning turned into something that truly changed my life. Now, every piece she creates carries a little bit of that journey with it — a story of growth, comfort, resilience, and finding light again through creativity.
